Unloved gifts, old treasures from the cellar: how and where you sell, what you no longer need and when buyback portals are worthwhile
Hand on heart:
Have you also received a few gifts for Christmas, which do not even meet your taste? But to ask for the receipt, so that you can exchange it – then you would rather not, in order to offend anyone. Then there is only one left, if the unloved gift is not wasting space unnecessarily: Sell!
The same applies to good old pieces from the cellar or the Ausmist action at the turn of the year: much is too bad to throw away. Because if you sell the items on the Internet, you can still get good money for one or the other piece.
Here are your options for silvering your favorite gifts and old treasures from the basement as profitably as possible:
- Internet auction house and department stores: When selling and buying everyone thinks first eBay and Amazon, where also used items can be sold. The advantage: The number of users is huge and the chance is high that a buyer will find. However, fees are due. In addition, it can be costly to set the items for sale: A sales text must be written, good photos must. And then find a buyer, the package must be sent quickly.
- Classifieds: Less cost and effort, however, generate the classifieds, as they can often be placed free of charge in numerous Internet portals. Unloved gifts or unused goods can be easily sold and given away here. The disadvantage, however: buyers and sellers are not always considered serious. The consumer magazine “Finanztip” therefore recommends sending goods only in advance.
- Buy-back Portals : Relatively new are the buyback portals on the Internet, such as rebuy.de or momox.de. These companies sell and buy mainly used electrical appliances, but also books or DVDs. The advantage here is the fast processing. For example, if you want to sell books, you can scan the barcode using your computer’s mobile phone or camera. Then you will immediately learn how much you still get for your book. So you can immediately calculate your income and decide whether a purchase is still worthwhile – unlike at an auction, where you do not know if there is even a buyer. The downside to the buyback portals: the prices you can get here are comparatively low.
Good to know: no tax on private sales
You do not have to declare your income from private sales! So you do not have to pay taxes because they are private businesses. Sales become taxable only when they are commercially operated. This is the case, for example, when you buy goods or items cheaply and then sell those items on the internet, but much more expensive.
